Developing a core outcome set for planned mode of birth: a stakeholder consensus process

Despite extensive research into patient centred outcomes in medicine, and the development of a variety of Core Outcome sets, there is currently none relating to planned mode of birth. This makes comparison of data and results from different studies more difficult to analyse and interpret and that literature from different sources will not be cohesive in the information they portray. The primary objective of this study is to create this core outcome set via a two-round e-Delphi project using electronic questionnaires distributed to woman in the UK who have given birth or plan to do so and health professionals in order to find an agreed comprehensive list of outcomes considered to be important that all pregnant woman should be informed about when planning their birth, and therefore be used in future studies and literature.
