The APICS-01 (Addressing Post-Intensive Care Syndrome) study is a multicenter, prospective, longitudinal study evaluating posthospital unmet healthcare needs in ARF survivors soon after discharge. The APICS-01 study followed participants at 1–4 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months after hospital discharge and used the ARF COS?+?MoCA-Blind (as described above) at its 3-month time point.

A brief COS feedback survey was developed by the multidisciplinary Improve Long Term Outcomes COS research group (survey available at www.improvelto.com/coms/) and pilot tested with patients who were not part of the present study. The survey consists of three questions asking about 1) the COS’s importance, 2) any reactions or emotions arising from the COS (including happy, optimistic, bored, frustrated, worried, sad, embarrassed, discouraged, lonely, other—please specify), and 3) perceived length/duration of COS. Respondents can provide additional free-text comments after each question.

APICS-01 participants’ feedback about the COS was elicited after COS completion using the Improve Long Term Outcomes COS feedback survey. Inductive qualitative content analysis of free-text responses was performed and categorized into major themes.
