Guidelines for controlled trials of drugs in migraine: second edition

Not provided

Aim

In 1991, the Clinical Trials Subcommittee of the International Headache Society (IHS) published its first edition of the guidelines on controlled trials of drugs in migraine. The guidelines were developed because of a need 'to improve the quality of controlled clinical trials in migraine', and because only quality trials can form the basis for international collaboration on drug therapy. Their main purpose was to draw the investigators' attention to the problems inherent in drug trials in migraine. The experience of clinical investigators and the pharmaceutical industry has expanded enormously, providing a basis for revising these guidelines now.
